“Russian LGBT Network” demands to investigate activist’s forced return to Ingushetia

The Moscow police refused to investigate a case of a female native of Ingushetia, who was forcibly returned to their homeland by her father and brother after she had participated in a rally of Alexei Navalny’s supporters, the “Russian LGBT Network” reported. Human rights defenders filed a complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office.

In 2020, the young woman, who did not want to comply with the norms of Islam, moved to Moscow. In February, she was detained at a rally in support of oppositionist Alexei Navalny. At a police station, the activist learned that she had been put on the wanted list under a complaint filed by her relatives.

On March 16, the father and the brother took the young woman to Ingushetia. After that, her female friends received videos from her mobile phone in which she agreed with her father’s decision to bring her home. The human rights defenders believe that those videos were recorded under pressure. The young woman’s apartment neighbour filed a complaint to the police about kidnapping.

In the course of the check, the police phoned the young woman’s father.

“The father explained the police that he expresses his strong dissent with the immoral lifestyle of his daughter in Moscow,” states the police resolution to refuse to institute a criminal case on kidnapping as quoted by the “Open Media”.
