Villagers in Stavropol Territory oppose construction of communication tower

About 100 residents of the dwelling settlement of Progress in the Stavropol Territory came to a gathering demanding to move the cell tower, which is being installed in the settlement centre. They threatened to demolish the tower frame again if the local authorities fail to satisfy their demands.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about people's protests against installation of cell towers in the regions of Southern Russia. In July 2020, residents of the settlement of Skelevatsky in Krasny Sulin, Rostov Region, held a rally against the installation of a cell tower near their houses. They said they were afraid of the effects of radiation on their health.

On March 17, residents of Progress in the Kirov District of the Stavropol Territory came out against the construction of a cell tower in the centre of their settlement. They gathered in front of the building of the village administration and demanded from the district authorities to relocate the tower outside the residential zone. The gathering was attended by about a hundred locals, as well as officials of the mobile operator "Beeline", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported from the venue.

According to local residents, the builders failed to show any permits to Progress residents. They believe that the documents, if the developer has them, could have been obtained through corruption. The electromagnetic radiation from the tower is harmful to human health, residents believe.
