Social media users discuss video about capture of Shusha

Some of social media users claim that the footage depicting the advancement of the Azerbaijani troops to Shusha confirms the version about the treacherous surrender of the city. Their opponents associate the above version with the unwillingness to recognize the Azerbaijan's military successes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that film director Arshak Zakaryan released a video, which, according to him, "confirmed the version of the surrender of Shushi" (the Azerbaijani name is Shusha, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") to the Azerbaijani troops, as it demonstrates their unhindered advance towards the city. The video was filmed on October 27, 2020, and experts considered it reliable. Taking into account the fact that the coordinates of the Azerbaijani units on the approaches to the city were known, they could have been destroyed by artillery fire, expert Robert Nazaryan notes. The absence or late delivery of a strike could be the result of inconsistency between the Armenian armed units, Hayk Khachikyan suggested.

YouTube users treated the video as evidence of betrayal and called for the execution of the persons responsible for the betrayal.

The version of betrayal by the Armenian authorities does not explain the defeats at the front line, user Oleg Harust believes.

Had Shusha been treacherously surrendered, it would not have been accompanied by a high ratio of casualties among Karabakh soldiers, user Rovsan Aliev points out.

David Schwarz, a user of the "VKontakte" social media platform, explained the version of betrayal by the unwillingness to "honestly admit that the Azerbaijani army was better prepared and equipped, and conducted military operations with more thoroughly developed tactics."

User Kazbek Elbrusov responded by noting that the Azerbaijan's victory was ensured by Turkish specialists and Syrian mercenaries.
