Ingushetia and Kalmykia are leaders in Russian rating of fighting HIV

The authors of the study of the situation with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) detection and treatment in Russia have placed Ingushetia and Kalmykia into the group of 13 best regions. Doctors of the Stavropol and Volgograd Regions are also successfully coping with the problem, while in other regions of the Southern Federal and North-Caucasian Federal Districts (SFD and NCFD) the problem is expressed at an average level.

On February 15, the "Need Help" Fund posted, on the website of the "To Be Precise" Project, an updated HIV data on Russia for 2019. The statistics was gathered based on information from relevant agencies, non-profit organizations (NPOs) and alternative sources.

The study presents a rating of Russian regions by the scale of the problem. The regions were divided into five groups, from the most favourable (A) to the least successful (E). The SFD and NCFD regions were not included in the most problematic groups E and D. The largest group, C, includes the Astrakhan and Rostov Regions, the Krasnodar Territory, Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, North Ossetia and Chechnya. The Volgograd Region and the Stavropol Territory are in group B, while Ingushetia and Kalmykia are in the group of 13 most favourable regions.
