Relatives of Tsetiev and Razhapov, residents of Chechnya, treat compensations for their criminal prosecution as scanty

After termination of his criminal case, Khusein Tsetiev, a native of Chechnya, cannot find a decent job; his family, whom he supported before his arrest, is in dire need of money, while the compensations appointed by the court cannot solve these problems, his mother said. Khamid Razhapov's health after his stay at SIZO (pre-trial prison) has deteriorated seriously; he needs expensive treatment, his mother has complained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2019, the court appointed compensations in the amount from half a million to a million roubles for the three-year-long arrest on unfair charges against the natives of Chechnya, Said-Magomed and Khusein Tsetiev, as well as against Khamid Razhapov. Their defence has appealed against this judgement in order to achieve an increase of the above compensations.

The brothers Khusein and Said-Magomed Tsetiev, as well as Khamid Razhapov, were detained in September 2014. They were accused of beating employees of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), as well as attempted murder of eight people. The defence claimed that all the three had alibis confirmed by videos from their residences.

Malika Tsetieva said that she was hospitalized with a heart attack when she learned that her son Khusein was accused of an attempted murder. After the charges were dropped from her son, she hoped that life would improve, but he still can't find a job and recover his health.

"After three years in jail, a man doesn't grow healthier," Patimat Razhapova, Khamid's mother, has noted. She claims that before his arrest, her son was a healthy and strong guy. "The money that was assigned to him as compensation for moral harm will be enough for one day of treatment at hospital," said the mother.

Nikolai Dyakov, an advocate, has noted that neither investigators nor judges were held accountable for the illegal imprisonment of the above natives from Chechnya.

on December 10, 2020, Evgeny Myslovsky, the president of the "ANTIMAFIA" public fund for combating organized crime and corruption, at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with members of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, raised the issue of compensation for the Tsetiev brothers, "who had been kept in prison for three years, and then the criminal case was dropped," says the website of the Russian President.
