Law enforcers detain Volgograd activist at solo picket

Today, Igor Nagavkin, an activist, was detained at his solo picket, where he demanded that the prosecutor's office pay attention to his criminal prosecution under a theft case. After his conversation with an investigator, Nagavkin was released and decided to continue his picket.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2016, Igor Nagavkin, an expert of the all-Russian movement "For Human Rights" in the Southern Federal District (SFD), was arrested on suspicion of theft. Igor refused to plead guilty. In April 2017, he was transferred from Volgograd to Moscow; and in November 2018, he was released from arrest by the decision of the Moscow City Court.

Igor Nagavkin was detained today at about 9 a.m. Moscow time at his solo picket near the Prosecutor's Office of the Volgograd Region, where he tried to draw the Office's attention to his criminal case. At his solo picket, Nagavkin held a poster containing a reproach against one of the employees of the Prosecutor's Office.

At 10 a.m. Moscow time, Igor Nagavkin himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had been detained by the "criminal investigation division" and taken to an investigator. Later he was released and decided to return to the building of the Office to continue picketing.

Igor Nagavkin, who is under recognizance not to leave, has explained that the charge against him was "based on forged documents," and he demands a check to be conducted by the Prosecutor's Office.
