Opposition disputes police data on detained activists in Yerevan

Law enforcers have detained 28 protesters in Yerevan for disobeying, the Armenian Police has informed. The number of detainees exceeds the official figures, activists assert.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since December 22, a protest action has been held in Yerevan demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan, the Premier. In the evening on December 25, in Yerevan, protesters clashed with policemen. The former blocked street traffic, while the latter cordoned off these venues and tried to detain some protesters, which led to clashes.

In the evening on December 25, the "News.am" reported with reference to the press service of the Armenian Police that law enforcers had detained 28 protesters in Yerevan who were blocking the streets.

In its turn, the oppositional "Movement for Motherland Salvation" gave other data on the number of detainees. "According to the information centre of the movement, the number of detained citizens is not 28, but 34," said the message posted in the evening on December 25 in the movement's Facebook page.
