Kremlin condemns "Grozny" TV Channel for justifying murder of French teacher

Today, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the President of Russia, has commented on a report prepared and broadcasted by the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company), in which the murderer of a French teacher appeared as a God-fearing young man. The Russian President's press secretary has said that state-run TV channels highlight different points of view, but it is not acceptable to justify the crime committed by Abdullah Anzorov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the TV report prepared and broadcasted by the "Grozny" state-run TV Company, relatives of Abdullah Anzorov, who was shot and killed by the police in France after murdering teacher Samuel Paty, said that Anzorov was a God-fearing young man and was forced to react to the discussion of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Today, Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has stated that the assessments of the personality and motives of Abdullah Anzorov, given by the "Grozny" ChGTRK in its report, are incorrect, and the crime is unacceptable and should be condemned. "You know that state-run TV channels highlight different points of view. The presented point of view may not be associated with the only point of view that may be correct in this case," stated Dmitry Peskov as quoted by the "Mayak" Radio Station.

"The only acceptable approach may be exactly the same as I said on December 7," the "Interfax" quotes the press secretary for the President of Russia as emphasizing.

Let us remind you that on December 7, Dmitry Peskov said that "the incident was a terror act, which may not be subject to anything but deep condemnation and rejection."
