Escorting Azerbaijani and Armenian militaries is peacemakers' regular work

Peacemakers' escort of conflicting parties' military columns is justified, since one of the missions of the Russian contingent is to support the ceasefire regime, Telman Abilov, an Azerbaijani expert, believes. Mekhman Aliev, Director of the "Turan" News Agency, has added that movements of Armenian troops are also taking place under peacemakers' supervision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, peacemakers escorted the vehicles with the Azerbaijani militaries, who had left the city of Shusha (the Armenian name is Shushi) for the Fizuli District. Transport links with Shusha have not yet been established; a new road will be built towards Fizuli, President Ilham Aliev has stated.

"To avoid excesses, the Azerbaijani column was accompanied by Russian peacemakers. A shelling of the column by Armenian militaries could provoke retaliatory measures and subsequent more serious violations of the ceasefire regime," said Telman Abilov, the head of the NGO "Military Lawyers".

In his opinion, there was no danger for the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh controlled by the authorities, since "it is unlikely that an Azerbaijani column with a limited number of military personnel would open fire."

"On the road from Shushi to Fizuli, in several places, the column passes very close to the locations of Armenian militaries. Such a rapprochement can be dangerous and fraught with risks of incidents," Mekhman Aliev has noted in his turn.
