Witnesses report about detention of man accused of murdering Khangoshvili

At a court hearing in a case on the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, German policemen said that they almost missed the defendant during the detention. The court has not yet begun to consider evidence of the alleged involvement of the Russian authorities in the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, explains Ekkehard Maass, the chairman of the German-Caucasian Society.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that investigators suggest Vadim Krasikov is guilty of the murder. The defendant himself claims he is Vadim Sokolov, a worker of the construction sector from Bryansk.

Zelimkhan Khangoshvili was killed in Berlin on August 23, 2019. One of the two detainees was charged with the murder and arms trafficking. According to the German Prosecutor's Office, the defendant "acted on behalf of the Russian government" and committed the murder either for a reward or because he shared the customer's motives.

At the court hearing held on November 18, the defendant spoke for the first time, but only to complain about poor eyesight, said Ekkehard Maas, who was a friend of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili.

According to the chairman of the German-Caucasian Society, he warned the German authorities about the danger for Zelimkhan Khangoshvili.

"The motive for the murder is clear: Zelimkhan Khangoshvili was a field commander during the war, and all field commanders were supposed to be killed. I have a long list with the names of the field commanders killed abroad, including in Turkey, the Middle East, and other places ... Besides, it should be noted that Zelimkhan Khangoshvili gathered 200 volunteers to defend Georgia in 2008," said Ekkehard Maass.

According to the chairman of the German-Caucasian Society, the investigators have collected enough materials to prove the guilt of Vadim Krasikov (Sokolov). "They found everything, including a passport and a weapon," Ekkehard Maass noted.
