Stepanakert residents master medical aid skills in bomb shelters

Doctors are rendering medical help to civilians around the clock and provide them with medicines, authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh have stated. People who hide in bomb shelters said that because of their worries about their relatives and friends at the front, their health problems have worsened, but they try not to distract doctors from helping the wounded and help each other on their own.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 23, the city of Martakert (the Azerbaijani name is Agdere) was exposed to missile and air strikes, the Emergency Situations Service of Nagorno-Karabakh has informed. A local resident was wounded in the shelling of the village of Avetaranots (the Azerbaijani name is Chanakhchi) in the Askeran District.

Djulietta Grigoryan, a pensioner and a resident of Stepanakert, said that she has been in a bomb shelter since the first day of hostilities. Due to shelling and worries for her relatives who are at the front, her health condition has worsened, but she refused hospitalization.

According to Sarkis Gazaryan, a pensioner, he has blood tension problems, as he "thinks a lot about the soldiers on the frontline." "I cannot stay in the shelter; so I am going to work as a volunteer in the rear. The main thing is for the war to end," he said.

From the first day of the war, Nagorno-Karabakh is executing a programme of providing Stepanakert townspeople with medicines and doctors' help, if necessary, said Samvel Balayan, the press secretary of the Nagorno-Karabakh's operative headquarters.
