On October 12-18, at least 10 people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of October 12-18, 2020, at least 10 people perished in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; no reports about wounded ones were received. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other sources.

The death toll includes three law enforcers in Chechnya, as well as seven alleged members of the armed underground – four in Chechnya, two in Dagestan and one in Ingushetia.

Attacks on law enforcers

On October 12, near the village of Kulzeb, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, policemen tried to stop a car to check the driver's documents. According to policemen, in response, the police were fired upon. Two men in the car were killed by return fire. The policemen did not suffer.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On October 13, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Oktiabrsky District of Grozny. The alleged militants were blocked in a private house. While trying to detain them, an armed clash occurred, during which two "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) fighters and one policeman were killed, as well as four alleged militants. The house, where the militants had been hiding, caught fire during the shootout. The militants were identified as the 32-year-old Mairbek Imamurzaev from the Gudermes District, and three natives of Grozny: the 24-year-old Magomed Tsuraev, the 27-year-old Magomed Magomadov and the 28-year-old Ramzan Murtazaliev. Law enforcers have detained the owner of the house, where the CTO was conducted, and his two wives.

On October 16, in the Nasyr-Kort District of Nazran in Ingushetia, a shootout broke out during a CTO, in the course of which, a car exploded, and a man inside it, presumably a militant, died. He turned out to be the owner of a weapons rental network, Yunus Vidzizhev, who had been wanted in connection with the storage of combat weapons. Earlier, Vidzizhev had stated that law enforcers were unlawfully persecuting him, robbed his store and tried to kill him by staging a special operation.
