About 350 Azerbaijanis return home from Kullar camp

On July 14, Azerbaijan received a hundred people more from among those waiting for the opening of the border in Dagestan than it was pre-planned. Additional places were organized for women and children, Afig Allakhverdiev, the representative of the National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in the Moscow Region, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the Dagestani border, near the village of Kullar, a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) was opened for the citizens of Azerbaijan who could not get home due to the border closure.

The National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in the Moscow Region helped those who could not cross the border, even before the authorities began doing this, Mr Allakhverdiev has noted. According to his story, now about 300 people are still waiting for the opening of the border.

The flow of arrivals to the border has decreased significantly; mainly those who lived in Dagestan are coming, Afig Allakhverdiev has added.

The inhabitants of the tent camp in Kullar complained about the food quality, the heat and the uncertainty with the return to their homeland. On June 15, a protest action was held in the camp, which grew into clashes with law enforcers; four of them and 10 Azerbaijani citizens suffered. 83 protesters were arrested for 10 days.
