YouTube users urge EU to react to Umarov's murder

The authorities of the European Union (EU) must take efficient measures to prevent killings of political emigrants, YouTube users have pointed out after the murder of Mamikhan Umarov, a native of Chechnya. European countries should find some way to influence the Russian leadership, the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6, the Austrian press and sources in the Chechen Diaspora reported that the two persons detained in Austria on suspicion of involvement in the murder of the blogger, Mamikhan Umarov, are natives of Chechnya, who had been living in Europe for more than 15 years in the refugee status.

Mamikhan Umarov, a native of Chechnya, also known as "Anzor from Vienna", was killed in Vienna on July 4. In his videos, the blogger openly criticized and repeatedly insulted Ramzan Kadyrov and his parents by using the uncontrolled vocabulary.

Umarov's murder was ordered by Chechen authorities, the author of the most popular comment to the video "Anzor from Vienna" by the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, which by 9:15 p.m. Moscow time on July 7 gathered over 289,000 pageviews and 1794 comments.

The user Anzor Viena has stated that "rallies should be held in all the countries of Europe [in] honour of Anzor." "Chechen refugees are being shot dead like dogs. It's time for the European Union to take action," the user Dark Order believes.

In the opinion of Tumso Abdurakhmanov, Europe should react to a series of contract killings of Chechens. "In general, Umarov's murder shows vulnerability of Chechens in Europe. This is the result of an inappropriate reaction from European countries. Those actions that European states take in response to such crimes are inefficient; they, unfortunately, fail to stop Russia. Therefore, these customized political killings in Europe have become more frequent," the blogger said in his interview with the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Channel on July 6.
