Chechen residents claim rude behaviour of gas service workers during raids

In Chechnya, during raids, gas service workers enter yards of people's houses without asking for permission and threaten to cut them off the service, local residents report. Instagram users explained the gas debts by the poor situation of Chechen residents.

In Chechnya, gas service workers conduct large-scale raids to verify consumers of the gas supply service and raise funds from debtors, the "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Grozny" Company reports.

According to an agent of the "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Grozny" Company, the total debt for gas supply of Chechen residents reached about 13 billion roubles.

The behaviour of gas service workers who conduct raids provokes indignation among residents of Chechnya. "They enter yards of people's houses without asking for permission, verify gas meter readings, and shoot them with mobile phone cameras. The gas service workers treat people as potential criminals. I've got a debt which accumulated because of some problems, and (on January 16), they visited me with an inspection, demanded from me to pay off my debt within a week, and threatened to cut off the gas supply otherwise," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aslan, a resident of Chechnya.

In their comments on a story of the Chechen TV Company, users of the social network reported that the residents of Chechnya are short of money for the necessities of life.

"People have no opportunities [...] Why couldn't workers of the gas company feel a little empathy for the poor (needy) people?" wrote user albert._606 as translated from Chechen by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"A person cannot live for 10 roubles a month when he or she has to pay for everything," commented user soprano110.
