In Quarter 1 of 2019, in Chechnya, three people fell victim to armed conflict

From January 1 to March 31, 2019, at least three persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Chechnya: one perished and two were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

All the victims were in January. As a result of the attack on the road-and-post police post in Sernovodsk, an alleged participant in the armed underground was killed, and two policemen were wounded. There were no victims in February and March.

In Quarter 1 of 2018 in Chechnya, eight people fell victim to the armed conflict, seven of them perished and one was wounded.

The above statistics does not present accurately, with 100% precision, the real number of victims. Not all the data gets into news bulletins. It is not always possible to check the truthfulness of the statements of law enforcement bodies; while new data on the events that happened during the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of the statistics by the "Caucasian Knot".

During the whole of 2018, at least 35 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Chechnya: at least 26 persons were killed, and 9 others were wounded. In 2017, the count of victims of the armed conflict in Chechnya was at least 50. According to the "Novaya Gazeta", 25 civilians were executed without trial. Thus, according to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" and the data of the "Novaya Gazeta", there were 75 victims in Chechnya last year: 59 of them were killed, and 16 others were wounded. In 2016, in Chechnya, at least 43 people fell victim to the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus: at least 27 persons were killed, and 16 others were wounded.

In 2015, at least 30 people suffered in the course of the armed conflict in Chechnya: at least 14 persons were killed, and 16 others were wounded. In 2014, at least 117 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Chechnya: at least 52 were killed and 65 were wounded. In 2013, at least 101 people suffered: least 39 were killed and 62 others wounded.

In 2012, 174 people fell victim to the armed conflict in the republic, including 82 casualties and 92 wounded persons. In 2011, at least 201 people suffered in the course of the armed conflict in Chechnya, of whom at least 95 persons were killed and 106 others were wounded.
