Georgian opposition rallies in Batumi on relations with Russia

On July 28, a rally was held in central Batumi, at which its participants called for the establishment of relations with Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Russia.

The rally was initiated by the oppositional party "Alliance of Georgia Patriots" Party, headed by Irma Inashvili, a Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

Georgia should seek to restore its territorial integrity by peaceful means, through direct dialogue, David Tarkhan-Mouravi, one of the leaders of the above party, has stated in his speech.

"We don't want to be enemy with either Moscow, or Tskhinvali, or Sukhumi, but this doesn't mean that we are giving up something. Diplomacy is a wise word that brings peace. We want a peaceful and calm dialogue that will bring a pragmatic result," the "Sputnik Georgia" quotes Mr Tarkhan-Mouravi as saying.

The oppositional rally in Batumi gathered several thousand people, the edition has reported.
