General Prosecutor's Office of the South Federal District (SFD) refused to give out the bodies of the militants who perished in Kabardino-Balkaria

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that some time ago the parents of the militants who had perished in Kabardino-Balkaria on October 13, 2005, addressed president of Russia V. Putin with a request to exhibit an act of humanism and give out the bodies for burial.

The appeal was accompanied by letters - petitions of certain political parties and public organizations in support of the request and signatures of ten thousand citizens of Kabardino-Balkaria who also spoke in favour of giving out of the bodies.

The other day, an answer arrived signed by R. Lyapin, deputy head of the department of the Chief Administration of the General Prosecutor's Office for the Southern Federal District.

The answer runs that "the collective appeal on giving out of the bodies sent to the president of the Russian Federation arrived to the Chief Administration of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for the Southern Federal District (SFD). The involvement of the persons, whose bodies have not been given out, has been examined in the course of investigation of the criminal case and completely confirmed. In relation to each of them a ruling was made. The bodies cannot be given out on the basis of Article 14.1 "On Burial and Funeral Business," running that "the bodies of the persons whose death was a result of suppression of a terrorist action, are not given out, and the place of burial is not disclosed."

Then, the answer runs that in case of disagreement with the answer, the applicant may complain to "a superior public prosecutor."
