Relatives of missing Ingush students picket Embassy of Egypt

Today, family members of five residents of Ingushetia who went missing in Egypt have submitted an appeal to the Embassy of Egypt asking to help in the search, and also conducted a solo picket demanding the return of their sons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 7, it became known that five students from Ingushetia were detained during their stay in Egypt. Their whereabouts remain unknown for almost three months already, a sister of one of them has stated.

Today, relatives have handed over their application to the assistant of the consul, indicating the surnames and names of the students from Ingushetia who disappeared in Egypt, one of the relatives, who presented herself as Djannat Dugieva, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, families do not know exactly where the missing students are. "There are witnesses, who were also detained. They were kept in prison for two months in inhuman conditions. According to witnesses, they and their relatives were blindfolded, taken to some place, put on a tiled floor without pillows and mattresses, and fed once a day with remnants of military food," said Ms Dugieva, without specifying who these witnesses are and how many are them.

She has also noted that, according to witnesses' testimonies, four months ago, the detained Russians were kept at a certain secret military base; that is why there is no information about their whereabouts.

After leaving the Embassy, relatives held a solo picket. Djannat Dugieva unfolded a poster reading "In Egypt, on August 14, five Russian citizens were kidnapped. Return our sons!"
