Court arrests a man suspected of wounding Grigol Vashadze's supporter

The court decided to detain a man suspected of attempting to assassinate Nodar Burdiladze, the head of the Grigol Vashadze's election office in the Oni District. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Georgia stated that the attack did not have any political background.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 22, Nodar Burdiladze was stabbed at his house in the city of Oni. Nodar Burdiladze underwent surgery and was taken to a Tbilisi clinic. The head of the Grigol Vashadze's election office was wounded after a quarrel with activists of the ruling party, a member of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party stated.

The Kutaisi City Court granted the prosecutor's request and pronounced the decision to take into custody the man suspected of attempting to assassinate Nodar Burdiladze, the Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia reported.

Nodar Burdiladze, who got two knife wounds to his abdomen and a stab wound to his back, stays at the resuscitation ward and is connected to an artificial respirator. His condition remains stably severe, reported on the air of the Georgian "Rustavi-2" TV Company Marina Gelantiya, the deputy general director of the Gudushauri National Medical Centre.

The Georgian MIA stated that the conflict between Nodar Burdiladze and the attacker did not have any political background and occurred because of domestic issues. According to the police, at night, being in the state of alcoholic intoxication, the suspect shouted loudly under the windows of the house near which Nodar Burdiladze lived. The head of the Grigol Vashadze's election office went out onto a balcony and made a remark which angered the shouting man. The verbal skirmish turned into a fight, which ended with a knife wound.
