In Tbilisi, opponents of Grigol Vashadze march along Rustaveli Avenue

In Tbilisi, activists held a rally in memory of the opposition rally dispersed on November 7, 2007. Several hundred people opposed the participation in the presidential election of Grigol Vashadze, a candidate of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 2, 2007, about 300,000 opposition supporters gathered in front of the Georgian parliament building and demanded the resignation of Mikhail Saakashvili. On November 7, the police began an operation to disperse the protest action. According to the protesters, law enforcers used tear gas and batons and many people were beaten. 360 people were injured.

On the anniversary of the dispersal of the rally in 2007, the rally "Remember November 7th" was held in Tbilisi, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Several hundred people took part in the rally, and Rustaveli Avenue was blocked for traffic, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.

"Our main goal is to prevent Grigol Vashadze, a candidate of the 'United National Movement', from taking part in the election now," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a participant of the rally, who introduced himself as Murman, a teacher at the State Polytechnic Institute in Tbilisi.

"The most important thing for us is that during the past six years after the arrival of Ivanishvili, the power did not kill people, and we lived in a relatively calm environment. Although, of course, the exchange rate of lari fell and there are economic difficulties, but that is all temporary, and we can overcome that," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Eka Matiashvili, a resident of Tbilisi.
