Economists report about unsolved conflict between Ramzan Kadyrov and Igor Sechin

After handing over the low-liquid "Chechenneftekhimprom" to the Chechen authorities, the "Rosneft" will retain its main asset in the republic, therefore the dispute between Ramzan Kadyrov and Igor Sechin will continue, economists reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, the Russian President signed a decree to hand over to the Chechen authorities the shares of the "Chechenneftekhimprom" Company, which were earlier state-owned. The decision was caused primarily by political interests, and for the "Rosneft", the "Chechenneftekhimprom" was not the main asset in Chechnya, experts noted.

After the transfer of the "Chechenneftekhimprom", the "Rosneft" still retains its main asset in Chechnya "Grozneftegaz", noted Igor Yushkov, the leading analyst of the National Energy Security Foundation. The economist believes that soon the rest of "Rosneft" assets will be transferred to Chechnya.

On April 12, 2017, the Financial Times reported that a conflict between Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and Igor Sechin, the director of the "Rosneft", aggravated over oil assets in Chechnya.

The dispute between Ramzan Kadyrov and Igor Sechin is not resolved with the transfer of the "Chechenneftekhimprom" to Chechnya, believes Alexander Frolov, Deputy Director General of the National Energy Institute.

By contrast, Nikolai Khrenkov, an expert in the field of energy considers the dispute resolved.

"The decision is made by President Putin, and that means the dispute between Igor Sechin and Ramzan Kadyrov has been resolved. Chechnya needs its own sources of income, since the republic is heavily subsidized from the federal budget. After the transfer of the 'Chechenneftekhimprom', Chechnya will have a source of income," Nikolai Khrenkov explained.
