Sources report demolition of posts on Ingush-Chechen border

After the signing of the Chechen-Ingush agreement on exchange of territories between, two posts on the Chechen side of the border were dismantled.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed an agreement about fixing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. The signing of the agreement took place against the backdrop of protests of residents of Ingushetia held in the cities of Sunzha and Magas.

The agreement covers the mountainous-wooded territories, where there are no dwelling settlements, Mr Evkurov has noted. Ramzan Kadyrov, commenting on the agreement, did not give any details about the territories that the republics had exchanged.

After the signing of the agreement, two posts in the territory of Chechnya were removed; in the next few days the same will be done with posts in Ingushetia, a source said. "Immediately following the agreement, the post located between the Ingush village of Arshty and Bamut was removed; and the post near the village of Aki-Yurt in Chechnya was also liquidated," the source has added.

According to the source, only one post remains on the administrative Ingush-Chechen border, namely, on the federal highway. "There will be no obstacles on internal roads between Chechnya and Ingushetia for mutual movement in both territories," the "Interfax" News Agency quotes the source as saying.
