In Georgia, police set opposition blogger Azer Kazymzade free after long questioning

After threats from Azerbaijani law enforcers, opposition blogger Azer Kazymzade, living in Georgia, noticed the surveillance after him. His call to the police with a complaint of surveillance turned into the long questioning, the blogger reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azer Kazymzade was detained in Tbilisi on September 19.

Azer Kazymzade has been living in Tbilisi for more than a year and all the time he sharply criticizes the authorities of Azerbaijan on social networks, in particular, on the "Düşün TV" page on Facebook.

Azer Kazymzade reported that the law enforcers set him free this morning. According to the blogger, on September 19, he was watched.

The activist said that during questioning, he was asked about the reasons for his criticism of the Azerbaijani President, about his motives to leave for Georgia and not to other democratic countries, and about the means he lived on.

According to Azer Kazymzade, his complaints about being watched by unidentified persons did not arouse any interest of the police.

Azer Kazymzade associated the surveillance after him with threats from the Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies. "It is dangerous for me to stay in Georgia, and I do not want to repeat the fate of Afghan Mukhtarly," Azer Kazymzade said.

The activist also said that he did not ask for political asylum in Georgia. At present, he intends to apply to the Embassies of the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, and France.
