Karabakh war veterans support CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov

Veterans of the Karabakh war demanded from Sasun Khachatryan, the chief of the Special Investigating Service of Armenia, to apologize to CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov in connection with insulting statements addressed to him.

On September 11, a video appeared on the YouTube with a phone conversation between Arthur Vanetsyan, Director of the National Security Service of Armenia, and Sasun Khachatryan, the chief of the Special Investigating Service, about the arrest of Robert Kocharyan and Yuri Khachaturov in the case of the dispersal of demonstrators.

The Karabakh war veterans have stated that Sasun Khachatryan used impermissible words against Yuri Khachaturov, "especially as addressed to a top-ranking military man who devoted his whole life to defending his homeland." According to the authors of the letter, in the scandalous record of wiretapping, Sasun Khachatryan states that "let Khachaturov sit (in prison) for a couple of days, grow wises, and testify."

On August 13, Robert Kocharyan, the second President of Armenia, was released. Yuri Khachaturov, another defendant in the case on the dispersal of protesters, was released on bail.

Earlier, Igor Khachaturov, a son of the CSTO Secretary General, has demanded from Sasun Khachatryan to apologize to his father.

"Who gave you any moral right in such an ironic tone and so cynically respond about the man who devoted his entire life to his country and army?" he told Sasun Khachatryan.
