Political analysts indicate obstacles to recognition of Abkhazia's independence

The existing Russia-West tense relations, and the Georgia's position on the issue hinder the international recognition of Abkhazia's independence, the participants of the conference "Ten Years of Recognition: Outcomes and Prospects" have pointed out. They noted the problems of repatriation of Abkhazians, who face language and everyday life difficulties at their homeland.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia back on August 26, 2008.

In the opinion of Alexander Skakov, the reason for the non-recognition of Abkhazia's independence by most countries is in Georgia's sabotage, supported by Western countries and the United States.

According to his version, the recognition of Abkhazia's independence by Turkey can be expected.

Zukhdi Zhanbek, the president of the Circassian Charitable Organization, has suggested two options for Abkhazia's advent to international arena: an opening of a commercial office in Jordan and accession to the UN as an observer country.

Beslan Dbar, the Abkhazia's Minister for Repatriation, explained that so far these steps are impossible, since the UN "treats us as separatists."

There are no problems with repatriation in Abkhazia, said Nikolai Trapsh, the director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Studies in Rostov-on-Don. However, in his opinion, no mass flow of returnees to Abkhazia should be expected.

The difficulties faced by repatriates are more of psychological and domestic nature, said Beslan Dbar.
