Large-scale jam on Russian-Georgian border is still larger

Today, the situation at the "Verkhni Lars" border checkpoint has worsened; the congestion of cars has increased, a source from the North-Ossetia Border Department and drivers have reported. According to Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), the waiting time is about five hours. In their turn, drivers assert that they have to wait for 9 hours or more.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 5, drivers complained about kilometre-long traffic jams on the Russian-Georgian border.

Today, the length of the traffic jam at the "Verkhni Lars" border checkpoint has increased, the operative on duty officer of the border department of the Russian FSB for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On the Georgian side, there are no problems with the passage of cars, the spokesman for the Georgian traffic police has stated.

People waiting in the line on the border confirm in social networks that problems with the passage of cars across the Russian-Georgian border are observed on the Russian side of the checkpoint.

"[I'm waiting] since 11 a.m.; and I've just drove up to the checkpoint ... Now, the traffic jam has become even greater," Narek Simonyan wrote in the group "Situation at the 'Verkhni Lars' border checkpoint" in the social network VKontakte.

"I've waited for 9 hours; they work very slowly, especially on the Russian side, on the Georgian one, they cope within an hour," Sergey Mamuladze, another user, has stated.
