Special operation in Makhachkala

One rebel was killed and five people were detained during an operation on Oskara Street in the Dagestani capital on the night of 12 July, Khabib Magomedov, a spokesman for the interior ministry, has told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. The killed rebel's name is Aslan Shaykhayev. His assistant and wife are among the detainees, NTV TV Company says.

Three special operations soldiers were wounded in the skirmish.
