Reports from Chechnya

On the night of July 14, two rebels were killed in a skirmish near the village of Azamat-Yurt, Chechnya's Gudermes district, reported the Chechen Interior Ministry. "Besides, in the village of Germenchuk, Shali district, policemen killed a local suspected of membership in a rebel group. The man offered armed resistance during the arrest, killing one and wounding another policeman.  Besides, in the morning of 13 July, rebels attacked federal servicemen in the same district, two soldiers were wounded as a result," the source added.

Chechen law enforcement agencies also report that three people went missing in Chechnya on 13 July. New abductions took place in the Shelkovskaya district (Chechnya's north) and the fourth largest town of the republic — Argun. In the village of Iliskhan-Yurt, Gudermes district, a local resident went out of his house and disappeared.
