Dmitry Titkov, Navalny’s supporter released from Sochi police

Today, Dmitry Titkov's advocate managed to release the activist from the police, where Titkov was brought in the previous evening from his solo picket in support of Alexei Navalny. The activist said that he had spent 16 hours in the dungeon (punishment cell) without food, water and chance to go to the toilet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported citing Dmitry Titkov that on October 7 in Sochi, six men threatened to execute him, demanding to stop his picket in support of Navalny, and smashed the phone to which a woman-passerby filmed them. Policemen ignored their actions; and Titkov was detained on suspicion of hooliganism.

Dmitry Titkov, when back at large from the police station at No. 60 Gorky Street, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that at the police station he was baselessly charged with hooliganism. While in the police, he heard threats that he would be "put in jail" because he "often flashes before their eyes."

Dmitry asserts that he was inhumanely treated at the police. "They took away my mobile phone; they gave me nothing to drink or eat; at 10:00 p.m., they placed me in a very cold dungeon. Frequenters told me that there are four such dungeons at the police station of the Tsentralny District; all of them packed. They drive prison wagons there from the yard and unload people. This is a horrible picture," said the activist, adding that he was not allowed to go to the toilet.
