Four rebels were destroyed in special operations conducted by the federal forces and local law enforcement and security agencies in Chechnya's Shatoi, Grozny and Nozhai-Yurt districts, the Chechen Internal Affairs Ministry told Caucasian Knot.

A group of four rebels was tracked down near Urdiukhoi, Shatoi district. Two of them were killed and the other two escaped, said Major General Ilya Shabalkin, spokesperson for the Regional Operations Headquarters for the Counter-terrorist Operation in the North Caucasus (ROH).

The general reminded the day before special forces of the Internal Affairs Ministry and officers of the Grozny district military commandant's office and the Federal Security Service Department for Chechnya had blocked in a house and destroyed three active members of a local Wahhabi society in Starye Atagi, Grozny district. A serviceman was wounded in the skirmish and died on the way to hospital. Two of the killed rebels, Adam Khabirov and Khamzat Yatayev, were combat engineers with Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev's group, a source with Chechnya's law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti.

Another rebel group was spotted 5 km south of Alkhan-Khutor, Nozhai-Yurt district. Three rebels were killed, one of them appeared to be an Arab," the ROH said.
