Ukraine’s MIA considers three versions of Makhauri’s murder

The death of Timur Makhauri, a native of Chechnya, caused by a car explosion in Kiev, could be connected with Russia's special services, said Artyom Shevchenko, the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ukraine, adding that other versions of his murder are also investigated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Timur Makhauri, a citizen of Georgia and a native of Chechnya, was killed on September 8 by an explosion of his car in central Kiev. According to his acquaintances, he had fought in the Chechen volunteer battalion on the side of the Ukraine’s governmental troops. Timur was known as Ramzan Kadyrov's personal enemy and, according to the Turkish Prosecutor's Office, was an alleged accomplice in the assassination of field commander Shamil Basaev. At the moment of the explosion, a woman and a child also were in the car; the woman was severely wounded, the child remained safe and sound.

The Ukraine’s MIA has voiced out three main versions of Timur Makhauri’s murder, the “Novaya Gazeta” reports.

According to Mr Shevchenko, “the murder may have to do with Russia’s special services, or Kadyrov's ones, which are quite independent.”

Besides, other versions of the murder are considered, in particular "a criminal rumble or interpersonal relations,” and none of them is yet a priority, the “gordonua.com” reports.
