Participants of rally call on world community to assess tragedy in Maraga village

On April 10, in the Martakert District of Nagorno-Karabakh, the village of Maraga hosted the action in memory of people who fell victim to the tragic events of 1992. Participants of the rally demanded from the world community not to ignore the massacres of villagers.

On April 10, 1992, in the village of Maraga, at least 43 local residents were killed by units of the Azerbaijani army. Besides, at least 50 villagers were taken hostage. Of them, 19 never returned to Maraga. This was stated by the Tomas de Waal's book "BlackGarden: Armenia and Azerbaijan through Peace and War".

On April 10, on the day of the 25^th anniversary of the tragedy in the village of Maraga, a funeral procession and a rally took place, and people laid flowers in the village of Nor Maraga.

According to Lyuba Grigoryan, the school principal in the village of Nor Maraga, the events in Maraga of 1992 go "beyond human understanding."

"On April 10, 1992, the village of Maraga was destroyed during several hours. Its residents were tortured and killed. And the fate of many others still remains unknown until present. And despite all the facts, the world community continues to ignore the bloody events in the village of Maraga and does not want to give proper assessment to organizers and perpetrators of the arson of the village and the killing of its residents," said Lyuba Grigoryan at the rally.
