Volunteers from North Caucasus ready to help Abkhazia against Georgia

Some North Caucasian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are ready to send volunteers to Abkhazia in case of the conflict between Georgia and the republic. In this connection, representatives of the Union of Abkhazian Volunteers of Kabardino-Balkaria and youth organizations of the Adyga Khase public movement from Adygeya and Karachaevo-Cherkessia arrived in Abkhazia. Vice President of Abkhazia Valery Arshba received them on June 9.

"Last steps taken by the Georgian leadership raise concern. We are here to voice out attitude to the developments that are taking place. We want to remind that in case of a new war against Abkhazia, we will not leave the brotherly people in trouble," said Beslan Khagazheyev, chairman of the Union of Abkhazian Volunteers of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Besides, the North Caucasian NGOs issued a statement on the situation in Abkhazia on June 9. "The present Georgian leadership bear special responsibility for the peaceful resolution of relations between Georgia and Abkhazia," reads the statement.

The authors of the statement believe the tragic developments and military conflicts in Abkhazia, South Osetia, and Nagorny Karabakh were caused by political mistakes made by Georgian and Azerbaijan leaders.

The statement is signed by representatives of the Union of Abkhazian Volunteers of Kabardino-Balkaria, the Adyga Khase public movement of Karachaevo-Cherkessia and Adygeya, the Dzhamagat and Abaza pubic movements of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, the Farn all-national movement of Osetins in Karachaevo-Cherkessia, the Batalpashinsk Cossack Association, and other organizations.
