Georgian president calls upon residents of Adjaria to disregard state of emergency

President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili has called upon the Adjarian population to disobey the state of emergency and curfew introduced on the territory of Georgia's autonomy on April 24 and to disregard it completely. The state of emergency in Adjaria is illegal, Mr Saakashvili told journalists on April 25. He promised to cancel it and the curfew by issuing a corresponding presidential act.

The renewal of the state of emergency has become a response of the Adjarian parliament to the tough resolution on the situation in Adjaria passed by the Georgian parliament on April 22.
