1.3 million Armenians live in Russia, according to the results of the population census conducted in 2003. Materials prepared for a session of the Russian Government contain such information. The total number of people permanently residing in Russia is 145.2 million. According to the census results, people of 160 nationalities live on the territory of the Russian Federation: 79.8% of them are Russians, 3.8% - Tatars, 2% - Ukrainians, 0.9% - Chechens, 0.8% - Armenians. The number of Azerbaijanians living in Russia increased from 340 thousand in 1989 to 620 thousand in 2002. At the same time, the number of Jews in Russia has reduced from 540 to 230 thousand for three years.
