In June, 94 people fell victims to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 94 persons suffered from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in June 2012. Of them, 52 persons perished and 42 were wounded. These are the results of calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", based on its own materials and information from open sources.

The figures cannot indicate the number of victims with absolute precision, because not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to check how true the statements of law enforcement bodies are.

Dagestan is in the lead by the number of victims. Last month, about 38 persons suffered there: 28 persons were killed and 10 persons more were wounded.

In the course of special operations against members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), as well as in terror acts and attacks, at least 11 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and other power agencies were killed; 7 more employees received injuries of varying gravity.

12 suspected members of the armed underground were killed; one more was wounded. As a result of militants' attacks five civilians were killed and two more were wounded. Religious leaders and local residents are among them, in particular.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the armed conflict affected 23 people: 12 of them were killed and 11 more were wounded, including law enforcers: four of them were killed, and eight more - wounded. 8 suspected IAF members were liquidated; three civilians were wounded.

In Ingushetia, also 23 persons suffered; of them 6 persons died, and 17 - were wounded. One law enforcer perished; and 5 suspected IAF members were liquidated.

Eleven law enforcers and employees of other power agencies, and six civilians were wounded. In particular, as a result of only one explosion near a wine-and-vodka store in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya of the Sunzha District five persons were wounded.

In Chechnya, 8 persons suffered: four were killed and four more wounded. In the Vedeno District, a serviceman of internal troops perished. Four other law enforcers were wounded in the same district.

Three suspected IAF members were killed - two in Grozny and one in the Achkhoi-Martan District.

In Karachay-Cherkessia, two persons perished; one militant was killed; and a SWAT soldier of the MIA died from earlier wounds.
