Aleksandr Litvinenko: FSB is involved in terrorist act in Moscow metro

Aleksandr Litvinenko, a former FSB (Federal Security Service) officer and author of the books "FSB Blows Up Russia" and "LCG - Lubyanka Criminal Group", who was granted political asylum in Britain, gave his opinion about the terrorist act in the Moscow metro.

Alexander Litvinenko draws parallels between the explosions that shook Moscow in 1999 and the 6 February terrorist act. "They have the same motives, purpose, and the same pattern. FSB wants to frighten citizens so that they would give unquestioning support to the present power," says Mr Litvinenko.

The former FSB lieutenant colonel believes that any person loyal to FSB regardless of ethnic origin, including a Chechen, was able to carry out this terrorist act. "Most often FSB achieves loyalty by threats and compromising materials," says Alexander Litvinenko.

Mr Litvinenko is convinced that the terrorist act will be followed by a wave of political repressions, by toughening the internal policy and the limitation of civil liberties.

Alexander Litvinenko states that FSB is behind this and all the similar terrorist acts, and that President Vladimir Putin bears personal responsibility for the people's deaths.
