Over 100 Sochi residents have no water supply for almost a week

In Sochi, from October 31, drinking water supply was cut off in Plastunskaya Street and Ambulatorny Lane; over a hundred local residents remain without water, as they told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent themselves.

According to Tatiana Kurilo from Plastunskaya Street, her mother is a disabled war veteran; for five days already they have not a drop of water. "We can't wash dishes, hands, flush the toilet; and we have no water to drink. Many lonely persons live here; they have nobody to bring water and suffer from dehydration. A lot of small children live here," she said.

Olesya Mitsenko, the head of the press service of the local branch of "SochiVodokanal" and the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Yugvodokanal", has explained that the residents' indebtedness for supplied water amounting to about 3 million roubles caused the supply interruption. The information about huge debts was confirmed by Alla Lyaptsova, the operator of the city Mayor's hotline.

At the same time, residents of the area assert that they had regularly paid their water bills. "All the bills were paid; and we have confirmations," said Nadezhda Obideiko from Ambulatorny Lane. "However, the LLC 'Yugvodokanal' said that if the residents of our streets, who pay jointly for consumed water without water meters, fail to pay 2,988,749.02 roubles, they will be sued."

The Sochi residents, who remain without water for almost a week, say that if on Monday, November 7, their water supply is not restored, they will go out and block the highway, as they "see no other way out of this situation caused by inaction of the authorities."
