Youth expert-political forum "Foros. Abkhazia" opened in Gagra

80 young people from Karachay-Cherkessia, Adygea, Ingushetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Stavropol and Moscow are participating in the international youth expert-political forum "Foros. Abkhazia" that was launched in the city of Gagra.

This year Abkhazian students failed to apply; therefore, they do not participate in the forum. Last year, a large group of students from the Abkhaz State University took part in the event.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Polina Zakharova, one of the organizers of the event, that the forum "Foros" is held since 1998; it was founded by Sergey Markov, now a Deputy of the Russian State Duma and representative of the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party. The first forum was held in the village of Foros in the Crimea; in the future the geography expanded significantly; it was held in Abkhazia, Transnistria, St Petersburg and Turkey.

The "Foros" is a wonderful platform for communication, where the leading political scientists, journalists and celebrities are invited. They give lectures and interact with young people," said Zakharova.

"There is a social demand for frank discussion of the problems of peace and development; these are the topics of our forum," said Sergey Markov in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, the main result of the forum is in formation of modern political elites in North-Caucasus republics and reduction of tension there.

Dzhanibek Kuzhev and Marina Khubieva, who represent the delegation of Karachay-Cherkessia, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they came to Abkhazia for the first time. "I hope to meet new people here and to expand my horizon of political knowledge," said Marina Khubieva.
