Union of Veterans in Abkhazia demands investigation on the accusations of collaboration with Georgia against Anquab

Union of Veterans of the Patriotic war of the Abkhazian people in 1992-1993 “Amtsakhara” condemned the show of an interview with ex-Minister of Defense of Georgia in Sukhum who reported his collaboration with Vice-president of the republic Alexander Anquab.

It should be reminded that on August, 15, a film with an interview with ex-Minister of Defense of Georgia Tengiz Kitovani was shown near Abkhazian State Philharmonic Society. Alexander Anquab himself categorically denies Tengiz Kitovani’s statements calling them “fabrications”.

Union of Veterans “Amtsakhara” intends to appeal to Prosecutor General’s demanding to “examine the actions of the ringleaders of this provocation and initiate criminal cases of slander and collaboration with the enemy who on August, 14, 1992, intervened Abkhazia with arms destroying everything on his way, killing children, old people and women”.

We will remind that at the past presidential election “Amtsakhara” supported Sergey Bagapsh’s team. At the present election of Head of Abkhazia the organization declared its support of Alexander Anquab’s candidacy. On August, 17, presidential candidate Raul Khajimba also addressed to the residents of Abkhazia.

According to Khajimba, “Leaving every citizen his or her constitutional right of freedom of speech, meetings and creed it should be remembered that a point of no less importance is the state in which we enter the second decade of this century: either mobilized to achieve our goals or resentful and incapable of state activities”. The oppositional candidate is sure that “history and the respective state institutions will put all the things in order”.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that extraordinary election would be held in Abkhazia in connection with the loss of Sergey Bagapsh who died at the age of 62. There are three presidential candidates: Vice-president Alexander Anquab, leader of the opposition Raul Khajimba and Prime Minister Sergey Shamba.
