A meeting passed off at the place of a former fascist concentration camp in Volgograd

A meeting of memory was held on October, 28, the day of the 68-th anniversary of the beginning of mass prisoner transfer of peaceful residents of Stalingrad (now bearing the name of Volgograd) to the fascist concentration camps, near a small memorial at the place of a former camp of compulsory confinement No 205 in the territory of the settlement of Gorkovsky, Volgograd region. 

Representatives of the municipal Administration, members of a non-governmental organization of former prisoners of fascist concentration camps, pupils and students of educational institutions gathered at the meeting. A reporter of "Caucasian Knot" received this news from the officials of Volgograd Administration.

A minute's silence was announced as a sign of grieve over the victims of fascist terror. Then the participants of the meeting lay wreaths and flowers at the foot of the memorial.

"Tens million of human fates have been savagely ruined during the Great Patriotic War. Over seven million peaceful citizens of our country perished from cruelty of the occupation regime and in fascist concentration camps. About 600 thousand children passed through concentration camps, more than 250 under age prisoners were tortured to death", Larisa Karaulova, representative of Press Service of municipal Administration, said.

According to the historians' testimony, Stalingrad region was one of those most severely damaged: after the end of the war there remained only twelve per cent of the prewar population.

"I got into the concentration camp unconscious and contused, Alexey Yegorov, native of Belgorod district, participant of the Stalingrad battle, recalls. - The Germans were giving us very little food. In January, 1943, they stopped giving us any food at all for they were eating horse meat themselves. I do not understand how I managed to survive".
