University teacher in Kuban challenges fine for discrediting Russian Army

Evgenia Opalich, a former teacher of the branch of the All-Russian State Justice University, has managed to cancel the fine of 40,000 roubles imposed on her.

The protocol against her was drawn up after during her lecture on civil procedure, she listed the attributes of military aggression. One of her students wrote an application to law enforcement bodies, the "Sochi1" outlet has reported. After this, Opalich was fired from the university, and more than a year after the lecture, the Tsentralny District Court of Sochi fined her for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

However, the Court of the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the main river) has overturned this ruling based on the statute of limitations – the protocol was drawn up more than three months after the alleged offense, as follows from the ruling posted on the website of the above Territorial Court.
